South Beach boasts warm weather year-round, which means it's bikini season every day. And while the land of excess has its fair share of decadent mealtime temptations, it also delivers in the delicious and nutritious department. These are four healthy staples with breakfast menus that help South Beach keep its bikini body all year.
This hot spot began as a juice bar with its first store in South Beach's Sunset Harbour neighborhood. Since then, it has grown by adding a handful of locations, including its newest outpost on South Pointe Drive, and by expanding its cold-pressed juice menu to include smoothies and "comida", or food. The entire menu at Jugofresh is composed of natural, whole foods, but their açaí bowl is my favorite breakfast option. Regardless of what you choose, I guarantee you will not leave their store without a bag full of healthy goodies.1
If you're a late riser and want a fresh, healthy breakfast that's Oprah-approved, then Icebox Cafe is for you. This trendy restaurant in South Beach's Sunset Harbour neighborhood (a favorite of the A-lister) has a breakfast menu with both light and hearty options to satisfy all appetites. Breakfast is only served Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon, but they're open for lunch and dinner until 11 p.m. and they serve brunch on weekends from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Make sure to dress upscale casual as this is a place to see and be seen!2
This local go-to is located south of Fifth Street, South Beach's main thoroughfare. It is 50 percent restaurant, 50 percent mini-mart, and 100 percent delicious. Pura Vida offers an extensive menu of smoothies and traditional breakfast options to eat in, take out, or get delivered. My favorite items on the menu are their açaí bowl and their ginger shots. They also sell an array of natural snacks and other products, including some from local companies like Ginny Bakes and Coconut Cartel.3
This juice and smoothie bar is an oasis in the hustle and bustle of South Beach. The cozy space offers a casual and stress-free environment in which to enjoy a nutritious meal or pick up a few health-food essentials. My favorite breakfast items are the açaí bowl and the superfood frappucino, which is made with fresh-brewed espresso blended with organic almond milk, agave, raw cacao, raw maca, and a splash of cinnamon. The ambiance and the food are the prefect way to start your day on a positive note!4
